Full-time and part-time studies

As a graduate of the bachelor's degree programme in Work Health and Safety, you will acquire knowledge in the field of management sciences and expertise in occupational health and safety. You will learn how to identify and interpret work health and safety events and processes on the scale of an employee, company, industry, and sector. You will learn the methods and techniques necessary for decision-making in implementing management systems for occupational health and safety and auditing occupational health and safety processes and systems. You will be aware of the professional responsibilities related to the performance of tasks typical of work health and safety services in companies and institutions. You will master a foreign language at the B2+ level of the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and use specialised language to communicate in professional activities. You will be prepared to take design, analysis and evaluation decisions in companies or institutions, and to carry out consultancy activities.

Your future

The Work Health and Safety study programme prepares you to work as an occupational health and safety specialist in job positions related to the protection of human health and life in the work environment, especially in companies providing work health and safety services; in bodies supervising the observance of working conditions; in organising and conducting occupational health and safety training; in scientific and research units that design and implement technical solutions to minimise the effects of the work process on humans; and in education – after completing a teaching specialisation, in accordance with the teaching profession educational standards.

Additional information

As part of the study programme, you can join the student scientific club "Safe Circle" conducting scientific and didactic activities in the field of work safety in Poland and the European Union, in addition to cooperating with organisations dealing with occupational safety issues. Students can also join the student study club “Quality Promoter”, whose aim is to promote, develop and deepen knowledge in the field of widely understood quality, and to integrate the students of Work Health and Safety with the students of Quality and Production Management.

Specialisation in Corporate Safety Management

By choosing this specialisation you will:

  • learn how to identify and interpret basic contemporary occupational health and safety problems and you will learn basic research methods for prevention measures, occupational diseases in addition to health and safety risk assessment
  • learn how to identify relevant external and internal factors shaping human performance and how to determine the impact of these factors on error generation and performance reliability under different conditions
  • learn how to analyse and assess human reliability in different situations using a variety of methods
  • learn the importance of innovation and how to use appropriate tools to support innovation processes in work health and safety
  • learn how to design an information system dedicated to supporting emergency management using appropriate information technologies and standards, as well as how to build appropriate expert systems
  • be prepared to investigate workplace accidents, draw up proper documentation of the activities carried out, and analyse accidents in different systems.
Specialisation in Process Safety and Improvement

By choosing the specialisation in Safety and Process Improvement, you will:

  • learn about conventional and modern concepts for organising production systems, and learn about organisational methods and techniques that can be applied in solving problems in the field of organisation and improvement of production systems
  • become familiar with service quality models, learn how to assess customer satisfaction and loyalty, and how to use service quality research methods
  • learn how to apply process improvement tools and how to select and correctly use the appropriate WCM tool for solving problems in production and services
  • learn how to apply a selected environmental protection strategy according to the principles of Cleaner Production and how to formulate simple and practical engineering solutions in the field of Cleaner Production
  • be prepared to diagnose and solve problems in an organisation using simulation and modelling methods for production processes, including solving production process optimisation problems using the GNU Octave computing environment.
