By choosing these studies, you will learn how to manage procurement, production and distribution in a company, and how logistics centres and supply chains work. You will learn how to organise transport, by optimising costs and using different modes of transport, and how to manage a warehouse, select suppliers and build distribution channels. We will prepare you for job positions needed in almost every company which requires the ability to control physical, financial and information flows. You will learn about software and applications used in logistics, whose knowledge is essential in the labour market. You will acquire practical and up-to-date knowledge of logistics, which is highly sought after by employers. If you like dynamics, have organisational skills and want to get an interesting job, logistics is the right choice for you.

Specialisation in Logistics Systems

A logistics system in a company is composed of a set of numerous different logistics subsystems and the relationships between them, starting with the supply, production and distribution subsystems, supported by the transport, storage and other subsystems. In the specialisation, you will learn about the specific functioning of the different subsystems and the relationships between them. This comprehensive knowledge is a strong foundation for the design and optimisation of logistics activities of modern companies. The specialisation will allow you to develop skills in planning, organising and implementing logistics activities at operational, tactical and strategic levels. The ability to improve logistics activities based on systemic logistics solutions is a key element in building the development potential of companies with various business profiles. The knowledge of implementing and optimising system solutions that you will acquire in the specialisation will be your asset in the labour market.

You will learn

  • about the principles and characteristics of logistic systems, including the basics of separating and structuring logistic subsystems and analysing the relations between them
  • to carry out comprehensive analyses of logistic systems, and based on their results, you will learn to make decisions concerning the implementation of logistic processes and optimisation of logistic activities
  • about the implementation and control methods for material, financial and information flows in supply chains
  • to use selected methods and tools for solving logistic activity management problems in companies
  • to plan, organise and implement logistic activities at operational, tactical as well as strategic levels.

Your future

As a graduate of the specialisation, you will acquire a comprehensive education to take up middle and senior logistics management positions in companies with various activity profiles, in particular, in production and trade companies, in the transport, forwarding and logistics industry and distribution centres. The specialisation develops the skills and competences of future analysts, advisors and specialists taking up employment in consulting, advisory and project companies with a logistics profile. In addition, as a graduate of the specialisation, you have the opportunity to be employed in business and administrative units, in which advanced, comprehensive and unique logistics knowledge is required.

Additional information

The specialisation is developed in cooperation with production, trade as well as transport, forwarding and logistics companies located in the Silesian Voivodeship. Students can also expand their skills and competences by participating in the activities of the student study club “Logistician”, which has been operating at the Chair of Logistics and Logistics Management for 18 years.

Specialisation in Transport Management

The specialisation in Transport Management is aimed at people who are particularly interested in transport. By choosing this specialisation, you will learn how to solve problems concerning the choice of means of transport, the economics of transport processes and the transport infrastructure. You will learn how to choose the right packaging and complete loads; you will also study the functioning of transport systems and the possibilities of transport infrastructure. Transport issues will become your domain, both on the organisational and economic level. You will be able to make both typical and unusual transport decisions, taking into account all the data and using appropriate methods, including computer software. You will understand the principles of transport systems on a national and corporate scale. This is a specialisation for true transport enthusiasts.

Your future

As a graduate of this specialisation, you will find employment in small, medium and large production and trade companies, as well as in forwarding and transport enterprises – any companies in which specialists in transport and forwarding are needed. You will be prepared to work in the area of various branches of transport, as well as public transport and tourism.
