The history of the Chair of Economics, Investments and Real Estate is part of the process of creating the Faculty of Management. In 1992, pursuant to the Resolution of the Senate of Częstochowa University of Technology of 9.12.1992, the Chair of Organization and Management at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, which was the predecessor of the current Faculty of Management, was transformed into the Institute of Management and Marketing. It consisted of three departments: the Department of Economics, the Department of Economics, Finance and Accounting, and the Department of Enterprise Organization. The Department of Economics, which was established at that time, evolved and changed its name several times, has nevertheless continued to fulfill its mission and academic and educational tasks, and it has functioned until the present day as the Chair of Economics, Investments and Real Estate. The unit was headed successively by prof. dr hab. Kazimierz Fiedorowicz, prof. dr hab. Eugeniusz Sitek, dr hab. Bogusława Ziółkowska, prof. PCz and at present the Head is dr hab. Anna Korombel, prof. PCz. 

The Chair academic staff conduct scientific research in the field of the widely understood business management, and in particular: strategic management; risk management; innovations, knowledge and information management; goodwill management; real estate management; issues related to the development and competitiveness factors of small and medium-sized enterprises. The research interests also include the functioning and development directions in the energy sector, eco-innovation, demographic and migration processes as well as public investment management.

Over the years, eleven employees of the Chair have obtained the doctoral degree (six at the Czestochowa University of Technology, Management Faculty, and five in other academic centers), and four persons have attained a postdoctoral degree.

Since 2015, the Chair has been organizing a scientific conference addressed to the students of Czestochowa University of Technology. Since 2016, it has been an exclusive organizer of the international scientific conference “The International Conference on Contemporary Issues in Theory and Practice of Management”, which has been very popular among the participants from various scientific centers in Poland and abroad, and the conference materials are indexed in the “Web of Science”.

The Chair cooperates actively with other Polish academic centers in Białystok, Bielsko-Biała, Katowice, Lublin, Łódź , Poznań, Sosnowiec, Wrocław, Warszawa, Zielona Góra, and also with foreign academic centers in Australia, Spain, Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Lithuania, and Ukraine.
